Alessio Boschi once again dazzles jewellery lovers with his latest jewellery collection
“Let the beauty of what you love to be what you do," Jalaluddin Muhammad Rumi, Sufi poet and scholar uttered these words more than 800 years ago but their essence defines jewellery designer Alessio Boschi’s entire credo. Alessio does not just design jewellery, he creates works of art that are breathtaking in their ambition and execution. But above all, he is a storyteller who uses precious gems and noble metals to move his narrative.
His latest jewellery collection, Isfahan, is a homage to the culture, arts and architecture of Isfahan, Persia. Each piece in this collection is like a quatrain of an epic poem. Its meaning is contained within itself but it is part of a bigger whole, and together the different verses tell a fascinating tale.
Rumi Ring
The Rumi Ring, as the name suggests, is a tribute to the works of the 13th-century poet Rumi and is a bejewelled masterpiece. In a world all on its own, it is easy to lose oneself in its enchantment. Inspired by the architecture of the Shah Mosque in Isfahan, the Rumi Ring is dome-shaped and features a reverse-set diamond at its apex. The dome itself is adorned with iridescent mother-of-pearl, diamonds and carved turquoise, reminiscent of the turquoise mosques of Persia. The dome opens to reveal a tableau of four finely detailed whirling Sufi dervishes, lost in spiritual reverie. This piece literally and figuratively captures the mystical world of Sufi poetry, where there is meaning within the meaning, and together these meanings are profound. It represents a moment in time but it could very well represent an eternity.
Shahbanou Earrings and Pendant Necklace Suite
The Shahbanou earrings and pendant necklace suite are the perfect representation of the queen consorts of Persia- clever and charming. The interchangeable earrings and pendant feature deeply saturated and exceptionally clear tear-drop shaped turquoise inlaid with gold and diamonds in a foliate design. The turquoise drops are suspended from surmounts of diamonds and emeralds, again of foliate design. An allegory, the Shahbanou jewellery pieces are gracefully feminine and showcase exceptional design and very precise jewellery handcrafting.
Isfahan Rings and Earrings
The Isfahan rings and ear studs are a delight of colour and whimsy. A nod to Isfahan’s favourite fruit, the pomegranate, these jewellery pieces embody its essence perfectly. Pomegranate has a special meaning in Persian culture and symbolizes abundance, fertility and even immortality. The Isfahan pieces, with their deeply saturated gems, sparkling diamonds, crips enamelling and superbly detailed goldsmithing, are a veritable jewelled treat.
Jewellery lovers collect Alessio Boschi’s pieces not only as jewelled adornments but as works of art. The Isfahan collection, the latest of Alessio’s precious journeys is an evocative epic - a deeply felt emotion, which is both visceral and sublime.
