Pantone Color of the Year 2025: Mocha Mousse (PANTONE 17-1230)

Mocha Mousse is more than just a color; it’s a statement of the times. According to Leatrice

Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, says the hue “extends our perceptions of browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.” It represents a shift towards appreciating simple pleasures while acknowledging the richness of life.

Choosing this year’s color involved a global journey, with Pantone’s experts gathering insights from high-fashion runways, interior design trends, cultural shifts, and human psychology. The result is a color that resonates deeply with modern sensibilities.

Pantone is celebrating Mocha Mousse with a series of global events and experiences, beginning with a stunning illumination of London’s skyline in the rich brown hue.

Mocha Mousse is already making its mark across industries. Motorola plans to release its Razr 50 ultra and Razr+ in this shade, while Pura is launching a tonal diffuser with exclusive matching scents. The color’s versatility makes it ideal for fashion, home décor, technology, and beyond.

Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, explains, “Mocha Mousse feeds into a desire

for harmony, comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures we can gift and share with others.”

“Everybody has their individual feelings about color,” Eiseman notes, emphasizing that this subjectivity keeps color conversations vibrant and ever-evolving. Mocha Mousse invites people to explore their connections to brown tones, fostering dialogue about creativity and design.

This new hue builds on the success of 2024’s Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz, by diving deeper into the themes of comfort and indulgence. While Peach Fuzz was about serenity and lightheartedness, Mocha Mousse added a layer of sophistication and tactile richness.
